M. Alfred Hayes, MD ’54, Remembered
Physician, epidemiologist and professor M. Alfred Hayes, MD, SUNY Downstate ’54, died Feb. 8, 2016, after a long illness. Dr. Hayes was president emeritus and former dean of the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine, a lifelong “architect of social justice for black healthcare professionals, and wholly devoted to improving care for minority and medically underserved communities,” according to his full obituary in the LA Times.
