SUNY Downstate Announcements:
May 7th: College of Medicine, Class of 2022 and the College of Health Related Professionals held their annual Donor Memorial Service. The program featured a candle lighting ceremony, a tribute by donor families and a video dedication made by the students.
May 10th: Board Member, Monica Sweeney, MD’75 was featured in ” Brooklyn group honors Downstate physicians”. Downstate University Hospital/Brooklyn Health Disparities Center physicians including Dr. Sweeney were honored by Trinbago Progressive Association at their 25th Annual Awards Luncheon.
June 1st: The Grace Church of The First Born heald a health fair organized by Monica Layton, RN, and Rosalee Downes, RN. COM students, Michael Xu (COM ’21) and Harry Lin (COM ’20) were on site performing health screenings.
June 7th: Governor Cuomo announced Downstate as the recipient of $16 million grant from the National Institutes of Health. It will fund a new study into the physical, mental and psychological effects of HIV and antiretroviral therapy on long-term survivors with HIV.
