A Message From The Alumni Association President: Alumni Reunion

Once again, it is approaching the time for our annual reunion at the Brooklyn Marriott on the weekend of May 17-19, 2019. Although we honor the five-year classes, the reunion is for all alumni that wish to attend. This year we have made significant changes. We will be having a silent auction and a roving magician during the cocktail hour.  On Saturday morning, we will have our annual meeting and a scientific session where alumni will be presenting a broad range of interesting lectures. A complimentary continental breakfast and a post-meeting luncheon are included in this CME event. In the evening, we will have the Annual Dinner Dance and Gala fundraiser. The auction begins during the cocktail hour and continues during the dinner to a cut off time when all bids are final.

The reunion is a great time to meet fellow Downstate graduates and for those who have not been here in a while to see the major transformation that has taken place in downtown Brooklyn.

For those of you unable to attend starting a few weeks before the reunion, we will have an internet-based auction where you can buy something interesting and contribute to the alumni scholarship fund.

We need to ease the burden on the next generation of Downstate physicians through our scholarship and educational grant programs. As tuition has risen, the need for scholarships continues to increase. It is time to remember what it was like to be a struggling medical student and help ease the burden.

If all we did were give out scholarships, our organization would be accomplishing an admiral goal. However, we are more than that, we are a community that is connecting on an ever growing and more relevant social media platform.

Go online share your thoughts, comment on our posting and share the information with your colleagues and friends.

It is time to reconnect and engage with your fellow alumni.

I hope to see you at our annual reunion and gala.
