Class Notes: Mid November 2021

Ronald E. Goldfinger, MD' 72 has passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Dr. Goldfinger was the beloved husband of Christine (Brunoski) Goldfinger, with whom he shared over 46 years of marriage.

He was the devoted and loving father of Samantha Abdulla and her husband Anthony of Boxford and Lauren Goldfinger of Marblehead; the cherished grandfather of Zoe Abdulla; the dear brother of Carole Silver and her husband Jerry of Middletown, New York; and the adored uncle of Brian and Matt Silver and Scott Sigman, all of New York. He is also survived by many helpful, loving, and amazing friends.

He was born in the Bronx on May 25, 1946, the son of the late Samuel and Leona (Cohen) Goldfinger. He was a graduate of the prestigious High School of Music & Art in the Bronx with the class of 1964. He earned his bachelor’s degree in art and biology at Harpur College, Ithaca, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical in Brooklyn, graduating with honors. He practiced internal medicine for over 46 years, first in New York and then at Pittsfield Medical Associates.

Walter Troffkin, MD' 62 has passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Walter graduated from Brooklyn College and the State University of New York College of Medicine. He interned at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn and completed a residency in psychiatry at Cincinnati General Hospital and the Central Psychiatric Center. During the Vietnam War, Walter served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps. He then graduated from the Institute of the Philadelphia Association for Psychoanalysis in Child and Adult Psychoanalysis and served on the faculty of the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia as a supervisor in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis.
