Tips to Enjoy the Holidays Safely

Holiday Parties

If you must gather in person, make sure that you are gathering with fewer than ten people in well-ventilated places, wearing masks, frequently sanitizing your hands and your surroundings, or getting together at an outside establishment that checks vaccine status. Avoid crowded, poorly ventilated spaces.

  • If you are sick or have symptoms, don’t host or attend a gathering.

  • Testing can give you information about your risk of spreading COVID-19. Get tested before and after holiday gatherings if you can.

Travel Policy

Just a reminder that if you plan to travel internationally during the holiday season you must comply with the travel policy. If you have specific questions about where you might be traveling please consult the NYS Guidelines.

Exposure Procedures

If you think you have been exposed to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 you must immediately notify Student/Employee Health Services (718-270-199

Quarantine if you have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has COVID-19 unless you have been fully vaccinated. People who are fully vaccinated do NOT need to quarantine after contact with someone who had COVID-19 unless they have symptoms. However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 5-7 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms, and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until their test result is negative.

Minimize in-person gatherings unless absolutely necessary. In-person meetings should occur with attention to minimizing crowding. If possible, have smaller meetings in larger rooms.

Get Boosted

If you have not done so already, and are eligible, we strongly encourage you to get a COVID-19 Booster. To schedule a Booster appointment, visit NYC COVID Vaccine Finder or NYS COVID Vaccine Finder.

Have a safe and happy Holiday Season.
